Project Recognition
VRCA President’s Trade Award — Silver (2019)
This project was recognized by the Vancouver Regional Construction Association for excellence in trade execution, reflecting Spectrum’s ability to deliver complex, high-end finishes on a demanding, coordination-heavy commercial build.
Large-Scale Commercial Painting for Hospitality & Gaming Facilities
Parq Casino is a high-profile entertainment destination featuring a 72,000 sq. ft. casino floor, multiple restaurants and lounges, major ballroom and pre-function spaces, and extensive public circulation areas. Spectrum delivered consistent, high-quality finishes across a broad and diverse scope, supporting a multi-year construction schedule with phased turnovers aligned to commissioning and opening milestones.
This project demonstrates Spectrum’s ability to execute large-scale commercial painting scopes while maintaining control, predictability, and finish quality throughout complex hospitality environments.
Architectural Wallcovering Installation & Specialty Finishes
The project included the coordination and installation of more than 60 distinct architectural wallcovering types sourced from international manufacturers. Custom, patterned, vinyl, and specialty wallcoverings were installed across gaming floors, feature walls, columns, pilasters, elevator lobbies, and other high-visibility areas.
Successful execution required precise substrate preparation, detailed layout planning, tight pattern alignment, and seamless transitions across architectural elements—particularly under controlled casino and hospitality lighting conditions.
Consistent Quality Across High-Traffic Public Spaces
Casino gaming floors, ballrooms, restaurants, convention areas, and public washrooms demanded durable, cleanable finishes designed for continuous public use. Spectrum applied standardized installation procedures and dedicated wallcovering crews to ensure consistent appearance across repeated architectural elements and long linear runs.
Finishes were delivered to meet both aesthetic expectations and long-term performance requirements typical of 24/7 hospitality operations.
Coordination-Driven Execution in a Multi-Trade Environment
This scope required close coordination with millwork, glazing, lighting, and specialty trades, along with careful logistics planning for wallcovering storage, tracking, release, and phased installation. Spectrum worked collaboratively with the GC and consultants to align finishes with sequencing constraints and evolving site conditions.
This coordination-first approach supported efficient progress, minimized conflicts, and enabled reliable phased handovers across multiple levels and operational zones.
Quality Control, Durability & Performance
The project was delivered under high-end hospitality quality standards, including mock-ups, ongoing inspections, and third-party MPDA quality control reviews. Particular attention was given to pattern matching, transitions at architectural elements, and flawless appearance under accent and low-level lighting.
Materials and installation methods were selected to support durability, impact resistance, cleanability, and long-term performance in high-use public environments.
