Project Overview
Spectrum Painting was engaged by EllisDon to deliver the complete architectural and specialty coatings scope for the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project in Duncan — a major new healthcare facility comprising two concurrent buildings. The project encompassed over 1.5 million square feet of drywall, 1,500+ doors and frames, and a broad range of substrates including structural steel, glulam, exposed mass timber, and healthcare-specific high-performance coating environments. Work was sequenced floor-by-floor and zone-by-zone across both the DT and IPU buildings to support phased turnover milestones, with all finishes subject to healthcare-grade expectations, approved mock-up benchmarks, and independent third-party MPDA inspections. The project was also executed under BC Infrastructure Benefits workforce provisions, requiring additional administrative coordination, onboarding, and labour compliance tracking throughout. Spectrum delivered consistent, specification-compliant finishes across the full scope while coordinating closely with EllisDon and multiple concurrent trades.
