Project Overview

Spectrum Painting was engaged by NY Construction on behalf of Public Works and Government Services Canada to complete lead abatement, surface preparation, and protective coating application at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery — a federally managed heritage facility in Richmond. The scope required removal of deteriorated lead-containing coatings from existing steel tanks and structural steel, followed by abrasive blasting to SSPC-SP10 Near-White Metal standards under SSPC Class 1 engineered containment. Portions of the work were executed over Steveston Harbour along the South Arm of the Fraser River, introducing heightened environmental protection requirements throughout blasting and coating operations. Spectrum delivered the full scope in compliance with federal project requirements, consultant oversight, and applicable environmental regulations, while protecting surrounding heritage elements throughout.
